Uganda Police, with sister security agencies, are hunting for an 18-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed and killed a traditional healer following a dispute over UGX 2,000.
UGexclusive inspectors have learnt that the incident took place in the wee hours of Wednesday, May 8, 2025, at around 1:20 am, in Kito Cell, Matugga Town Council, Wakiso District.
According to SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the deceased has been identified as Isa Bisobolwa, aged 45, a well-known traditional healer in the area, while the suspect is Richard Mutyaba, said to have been staying with the victim.
“The victim, Bisobolwa Isa, 45, a traditional healer, was stabbed by the suspect, Mutyaba Richard, 18,” Mr. Onyango said in a statement issued Thursday.
According to police, preliminary findings indicate that the two had earlier been seen drinking together at a local bar, known as Mama Naka, on the evening of May 7. A disagreement allegedly erupted between them over a Shs 2,000 transaction.
“It is alleged that the suspect stabbed the victim twice, once in the neck and again in the stomach during the scuffle,” Mr. Onyango added.
Bisobolwa was rushed to Wanda Health Centre in critical condition but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Investigators have since documented the crime scene and opened a murder case file. The deceased’s body was transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect, who fled the scene after the attack.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public with any information on Mutyaba’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.
“We urge residents to resolve disputes through peaceful means and to report any early signs of conflict before they escalate into violence,” Mr. Onyango said.
Police investigations into the case continue.
