Kampala — As the 2026 general elections draw closer, a new face is emerging in Nakawa East with a promise to bring fresh energy and people-centered leadership.

Kibirige Kassim, a devoted member of the National Unity Platform (NUP) has announced his bid for the parliamentary seat saying his decision is driven by a deep concern for the community that has long felt sidelined.

Kibirige says his choice to join the race is not a pursuit of political ambition but a response to the cries of residents who feel neglected and left behind.

“I have lived among the people of Nakawa East. I have seen their struggles, listened to their concerns, and I know what they go through every day,” he says. “It is time we turned those frustrations into solutions.”

Raised and educated within Nakawa, Kibirige describes himself as a son of the soil who understands the realities of the ordinary person from pothole-ridden roads to inadequate health services and limited job opportunities. His campaign, he says, is built around restoring dignity, improving livelihoods, and ensuring that public resources serve the people equitably.

Among his priorities are better infrastructure, affordable healthcare, quality education, and youth empowerment. He believes that transforming Nakawa East begins with addressing these basic yet critical needs. “When roads are passable, schools are functioning, and hospitals are stocked, the entire community thrives,” he adds.

Kibirige also emphasizes unity and collective action as the foundation for progress. Drawing from NUP’s message of people power, he insists that real change will only come when citizens take charge of their destiny. “The future of Nakawa East lies in our hands. When we come together, no challenge is too great,” he says.

With a message of integrity, faith, and service, Kibirige hopes to rally both young and old around a vision of renewal and inclusion. His entry into the race adds new momentum to what is shaping up to be one of Kampala’s most closely watched contests.

As campaigns gather pace, residents of Nakawa East will be watching closely to see whether this fresh face with bold ideas can turn public trust into real transformation.
