Kinkizi East Political Inferno . No Apology No Vote. Voters Roar Over Minister Baryomunsi Wife’s Mabugo Political Weapon

KANUNGU – The political temperature in Kinkiizi East has exploded into full-blown fury following a viral video that has left voters stunned, furious, and ready to hit the ballot box with vengeance.

At the heart of the storm is Mrs. Fosca Baryomunsi, wife to ICT Minister and Kinkiizi East MP Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, whose tone-deaf and incendiary remarks have sparked what is now being dubbed as the “Mabugo Scandal.”
According to the video that has since set social media on fire, Mrs. Baryomunsi is seen telling mourners that funeral contributions (mabugo) will only be sent to those who support her husband.

Yes, you read that right. In a society where death is sacred and unifying, Mrs. Baryomunsi chose division, turning condolence money into a political weapon. The backlash? Swift, scorching, and unforgiving.

“We shall not need you to vote us in order to send you mabugo. We shall voluntarily send it! Mabugo shouldn’t be conditional, honestly,” raged one angry voter.

“She spoke as if death will never come to her family,” said another. “Death is an equalizer. We can’t politicize grief!”

Social media platforms have become a digital battleground, with voters venting, mourning the decay of moral leadership, and calling for nothing short of a public apology from both Fosca and her embattled husband.

    Baryomunsi on the back foot

This scandal couldn’t have come at a worse time for Minister Baryomunsi. Already limping politically after pulling out of the NRM district publicity secretary race—defeated by his own online tormentor, Akampa, he now faces a grassroots uprising that even State House might struggle to silence.

His strongest challenger, Kanungu District Chairman Eng. Sam Kajojo, is capitalizing on every second of the chaos, charming voters with a fresh, humble image far removed from what some are calling the “arrogance of Baryomunsi household politics.”

       Old Wounds, Fresh Pains

Residents haven’t forgotten past dramas either. From the infamous Rutenga Parish Priest saga allegedly masterminded by Mrs. Fosca herself, to Baryomunsi’s tone-deaf commentary whenever the opposition faces brutality from security forces, the list of grievances is growing by the day.

“That’s what happens when you keep one person in leadership as if the rest didn’t go to school” cried out one voter during a community dialogue in Kambuga.

The Baryomunsi brand, once synonymous with power and party loyalty, is now sinking under the weight of entitlement, arrogance, and unchecked family influence.

     No Apology No Vote

With elections looming on the horizon, both the NRM party flagbearer race and the 2026 parliamentary showdown, Kinkiizi East voters have drawn the line in the sand.

“No Apology ,No Vote ” they chant, their voices growing louder by the day.

local political observer says unless Minister Baryomunsi publicly distances himself from his wife’s comments or she offers a heartfelt apology, Kinkiizi East might just turn the political tables once and for all.

“The message is clear; Even in death, dignity matters and no amount of power will buy silence anymore”. He says.
