Kyadondo, Kampala – June 20, 2025I|In a moment charged with jubilation and gravitas, Ven. Rev. Justus Tibesigwa was officially nominated as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearer for Kanungu District chairman in the upcoming 2026 general elections.

The function held at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters on Plot 13, Kyadondo Road in Kampala, marked the dawn of a new political chapter for the revered man of the cloth.

Clad in his signature simple causal paired with the yellow tones of the party, Rev. Tibesigwa took the nomination podium with calm authority and the unmistakable cadence of conviction. But it was not merely a post nomination brief speech , it was a pledge. A solemn vow of unwavering commitment to the people of Kanungu, delivered with the spiritual gravitas only a reverend can command.

“I come not with empty promises, but with an iron-clad resolve,” Tibesigwa declared, pausing briefly as cheers rippled through the gathering. “Kanungu shall not walk in circles. We shall march forward , boldly, honestly, and united.”

The former archdeacon , Kinkizi diocesan second in command turned politician promised a people-first administration anchored in integrity, transparency, and grassroots development. From roads that reach every village to schools that mold future leaders, he painted a vision of a Kanungu lifted from the shadows of neglect and driven into a future defined by dignity.

“I have walked the hills and valleys of Kanungu not just as a leader, but as a son of the soil. I have listened to the cries of farmers, teachers, mothers, and youth. My mission is not political— it is pastoral, it is patriotic,” he said, his voice swelling with emotion.

Tibesigwa’s nomination has been met with a wave of optimism from both local and national party stalwarts, many lauding his track record as a unifier and disciplinarian qualities often elusive in the political arena.

As drums beat and ululations echoed from jubilant supporters who had traveled from the lowlands of Kihiihi to  the plains of Mpungu, it was clear this was more than a political endorsement. It was a spiritual awakening wrapped in yellow.

His triumph in 2026 means Tibesigwa will be among the rare few to bridge the pulpit and the political podium. But if his words are anything to go by, Kanungu may well be entering an era where righteousness meets resolve  and where the gospel of service is not just preached, but practiced.

“We shall not falter. We shall not fail. With God, and with the people, Kanungu shall rise,” TJ concluded, raising the NRM flag high above his head to a chorus of “Muhamire ahari TJ”
