ENTEBBE – It was glitz, glory, and military precision as the elite Special Forces Command (SFC) was thrown a lavish dinner bash at their Entebbe Headquarters, celebrating their show-stopping performance at the inaugural Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Inter-forces Drill Competition.

The night, held under the stars on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, was nothing short of spectacular – a blend of pomp, pride and parade-style panache.

The commanding atmosphere was punctuated by heartfelt speeches, trophy flaunting, and a firm salute to excellence as SFC proved once again why they are the crème de la crème of Uganda’s military might.

At the heart of the celebrations was Maj Gen. David Mugisha, Commander of the SFC, who spared no praise for his troops  and none for their competitors.

He described the force’s triumph as a shining testament to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s visionary leadership, crediting him for transforming UPDF into a modern, ideologically rooted and people-centered institution.

“The President’s guidance remains our compass,” Maj Gen. Mugisha declared, as cameras flashed and officers beamed with pride. “This was not just about marching. It was a show of unity, discipline, and the SFC’s unmatched spirit.”

SFC dominated the creative drill category, walking away with the top prize and a cool Shs10 million, while also clinching first runner-up in the normal drill, earning an additional Shs5 million.

Their sharp execution, flair, and coordination left a lasting impression at the competition held earlier on May 13th at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The dinner turned red-carpet as SFC’s high command, led by Brig. Gen. Paul Namawa, Col. Mango Baraza, Col. Paul Lokut, and team leader Maj. Denis Masambo, praised the unbreakable determination and creativity of their officers  both men and women – who stepped up and showed out.

“We are a young force but moving at lightning speed,” said Brig Gen. Namawa. “And we won’t stop. The minute we slow down, someone else will take our spot.”

The night also sparkled with gratitude toward Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, credited as the brainchild behind the drill competition concept. His innovative push, according to officers, breathed fresh air into the ceremonial traditions of the military.

“Drill is more than a parade,” said Gen. Mugisha. “It’s discipline in motion, and our SFC has set the gold standard.”

With a glittering trophy now sitting at the SFC HQ and millions of shillings in reward, the evening ended with a powerful toast to unity, excellence, and the fierce ambition that has put SFC in a league of its own.
